What a fantastic program we had last month with our Annual Nike Awards. I was very pleased that Mayor Pawlowski paid us a visit and allowed all of us to meet and talk with him. I would like to personally thank every member who helped our local organize and run this event.
This month we will be having a speaker from Turning Point. I would like everyone to assist us in making this meeting special by recognizing someone they know who has been affected by Do-mestic Violence. We will be having an empty table for mem-bers to make a place setting for someone they know has died due to a Domestic Violence Event or been affected by it. I personally have been affected by domestic violence and Turning Point figures state that 30% of women have had some type of Domestic Violence Encounter.
The United States is ready for a change which was proved by the countries election of Barack Obama for our 44th President. What a momentous occasion! I must admit this was a very in-teresting election year for me due to many firsts that have taken place this election year. I hope President Elect Obama is able to rally our country together and improve our current economic situation. As he said in his speech, we need to work with him in order for change. I hope you're ready for the challenge!
I hope to see you at our November meeting to ensure our Domestic Violence Event is a success. We will also be receiv-ing our information on the fam-ily we will be adopting for the holidays. You may either purchase a gift or donate funds for our local to purchase gifts for the family. Once again, I look forward to seeing all of our members at our next meeting. Thanks for allowing me to lead.
